About the Podcast

Long ago the after a time when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and before the dark times, before the Empire. Geek Fights was born from a question. Who is better Han Solo or Indiana Jones. We sought to answer that, and all the burning questions of Geekdom. What is the best Sci Fi TV show? The Best Star Trek Episode? the Best Action Scene? and of course who would win in a fight between Aunt May and Thor? And answer them we do. And we are ALWAYS wrong!

Geek Fights features discussions on a wide range of topics presented as a tournament style brackets, with a group of (usually) 5 panelists, including regular hosts and rotating set of guest panelists from the Freebooters Network and beyond, including you! You don’t have to be satisfied with the home version of the game, you can join us in the show! Contact us for more info, and remember, anyone that suggests a topic we use is automatically invited on the show as a panelist.

Listen along us as we explore the great geek mysteries and have a little fun and maybe learn something about ourselves, and the stuff we love along the way.

Mike Ortiz wasn’t rocketed from a doomed planet as an infant. Nor was he ever bitten by a radioactive anything. He has however been a geek for over 40 years, he has worked in various movie theatres, and comic books stores, He is an artist and graphic designer that has worked in home video, on geeky projects like the Evil Dead, Hellboy Animated, The Walking Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Near Dark, Return to the Batcave, Free Enterprise and more.

He also makes too many obscure movie, tv and comic book references but his Midichloreans are off the chart. so he’s got that going for him. Which is nice.

Damon Shaw doesn’t like writing in the third person, so he lets Mike do it. He is a geek of all trades, encompassing Star Wars, Star Trek, Comics, Harry Potter, Video Games, Ninja Turtles, Comedy and more. He has worked in comics retail, at Gameworks and was a part of Star Trek The Experience in Las Vegas, where he was the very last Borg ever created. Resistance was futile.

He is also a golden god, though his deific status may be unverified, it is not necessarily unproven.
