After Ullanor is the original Horus Heresy book club. The hosts, David Witek and Greg Dann bring you in depth discussions of each book in the series is a book club fashion. They often will include an extra episode after each book, a listener feedback episode where they bring up emails, voicemails, and forum comments from listeners, giving them a chance to get their ideas on the air (especially when they point out stuff we missed or maybe got wrong…) and complete that “book club” feel. To top it all off, every once in a while they land an interview with one of the Black Library authors!

David is an English teacher who comes to the show with a literature teacher’s perspective and a huge enthusiasm for the book series, but without a greater knowledge of the greater 40K universe (NOOB!). Greg, on the other hand, is the resident 40K (and now 30K) encyclopedia, giving David (and the listeners) the background needed to fill in the gaps that might not be obvious to the uninitiated, while keeping the depth of knowledge for those who’ve been a part of this universe since Rogue Trader days.
Between the experienced gamer/lore master and the lit teacher experiencing the story for the first time with you on the air, After Ullanor is a unique experience bringing you many levels of coverage of the Horus Heresy series.

My journey into the world of Games Workshop started in 1991 with a friend’s White Dwarf magazine and has continued pretty much non-stop to the present day. Shelves of BL books stand testament to the enjoyment of the stories told and there are none bigger than the Horus Heresy. From the initial release of Horus rising i was hooked and now 10+ years later I am even more engrossed, however I am now painting and collecting as well as reading about it – oh yeah I also podcast about it on The Imperial Truth podcast as well as doing After Ullanor.

I’ve been a gamer my whole life, but I didn’t get into tabletop wargames until my wife told me to stop spending all of my time playing The Elder Scrolls on X-Box. So about 2006 I got into Warhammer Fantasy and pretty much dropped everything else for tabletop wargaming. I started Garagehammer, a Warhammer Fantasy podcast in June of 2010 with a friend and met Greg through the show’s forum. I was 40-curious, but the game wasn’t grabbing me. Greg suggested that I start reading The Horus Heresy and after several months, I did. I was hooked. When Greg came to the States that summer to go to GenCon, he stayed with my family for a few days, and over that time we spent HOURS talking about HH. Our in-depth all-evening talks prompted Greg to come to me with an idea for turning these discussions into a podcast. This was a great idea and, as usually happens with great ideas, it got shelved for about six months. Totally my fault. Just never found the time. Once we did though, we quickly fell into the roles of Lit teacher and lore master. So here we find ourselves, several books in, having a great time doing After Ullanor. I still do Garagehammer. It’s my “main” podcast covering Age of Sigmar…but lately bits of 40K are creeping in as well! What can I say? The Emperor protects!
